The attorneys at Sloan & Sloan have extensive experience with a variety of different federal taxes, such as income tax, gift tax, estate tax, and generation-skipping transfer tax, and have also handled many matters involving state and local taxes, including sales tax planning in connection with the purchase and sale of aircraft. More specifically, we have represented clients in tax litigation and other matters before the Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Tax Court, the Federal District Court for the State of Utah, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Utah Tax Commission, and the Utah Supreme Court.

We have extensive experience advising clients with respect to tax and estate planning issues for all types of retirement benefits, including regular IRAs, Roth IRAs, 401(k) plans, 403(b) plans, and nonqualified deferred compensation plans. In particular, we advise clients with respect to beneficiary designations, roll overs, minimum required distributions, and planning for maximum income tax deferral. We have also represented over 100 Credit Unions in at least 17 different states with respect to the preparation of non-qualified section 457(f) deferred compensation plans and/or split dollar life insurance agreements.
We assist clients with all kinds of charitable planning, including with the creation of private foundations, donor advised funds, charitable remainder trusts, and charitable lead trusts; with obtaining tax exempt status; and with making charitable bequests and other donations such as qualified charitable distributions. We have also represented clients in litigation with the IRS involving prohibited transactions, excess benefit transactions, and other matters.
